 A heart attack, also known as myocardial infarction, occurs when the blood flow to the heart is blocked, causing damage to the heart muscle. Here are some key details about heart attacks:


Causes:


- Blockage of coronary arteries due to plaque buildup (atherosclerosis)

- Blood clots

- High blood pressure

- High cholesterol

- Smoking

- Diabetes

- Family history

- Age (men 45+, women 55+)




Symptoms:


- Chest pain or discomfort (tightness, pressure, or heaviness)

- Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach

- Shortness of breath

- Cold sweats

- Lightheadedness or dizziness

- Fatigue

- Rapid or irregular heartbeat

- Nausea or vomiting



Types:
